Sure it sounds all wonderful in theory, but before you run out and take home the first puppy, kitten or any other sweet little animal who melts your heart, there are some things you'll need to consider carefully.

Consider this BEFORE you bring home a new pet

Before you decide to bring home a pet, you should talk things over with anyone that lives in the same household where the pet will be living.  It is important that everyone be in agreement with the added responsibility that you are about to create.

  • Consider the amount of time this new pet will take, especially if it is a young animal.  Puppies and kittens require added attention ...after all, they are babies and have recently been removed from the warmth and comfort of their mother.
  • Establish when the pet will sleep and who will be responsible for feeding it.
  • Always make an appointment with your vet as quickly as possible after you bring your pet home.  Animals can carry diseases that we don't necessarily recognize until it may be too late.
